Buhler Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is looking for a passionate professional to join our team as a Field Service Engineer – Automation to support customers with automation service, troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of Bühler machines and automation systems. This position is responsible for providing remote and on-site technical support, ensuring reliable system performance, supporting customers with automation solutions, and identifying service, upgrade, and modernization opportunities.

This is where you'll excel
  •    Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting for PLCs, process control systems, motor starters, industrial networks, instrumentation, and electrical control systems.
  •    Diagnose automation faults by analyzing PLC software, alarms, system logs, electrical signals, and process conditions.
  •    Commission, maintain, modify, and optimize Bühler machines and automation systems.
  •    Perform software modifications, backups, upgrades, component replacements, and system restoration.
  •    Support automation retrofits, migrations, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis activities.
  •    Guide customer operators and maintenance teams through troubleshooting and system recovery.
  •    Work with the Sales team to conduct customer-site audits, assess system conditions, and identify service, upgrade, and modernization opportunities.
  •    Prepare service reports and maintain accurate technical documentation and software backups.
  •    Coordinate with customers, service teams, engineering departments, and product specialists.
  •    Participate in on-call support and travel to customer sites as required.
These are the skills you'll need
  •    Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  •    Minimum 5 years of professional experience in industrial automation, technical support, commissioning, or field service.
  •    Strong hands-on experience with Siemens SIMATIC S7-300, S7-400, and S7-1500 PLCs.
  •    Proficiency in Siemens STEP 7 and TIA Portal, including programming, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and software modifications.
  •    Practical experience with Siemens PCS 7 is required.
  •    Strong programming knowledge of STL, SCL, and FBD.
  •    Knowledge of OPC communication, system integration, and troubleshooting.
  •    Strong knowledge of industrial control systems and automation principles.
  •    Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and control drawings.
  •    Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, particularly PROFIBUS and PROFINET.
  •    Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, including parameterization, configuration, setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  •    Practical experience with motor starters, including Variable Frequency Drives - VFDs and soft starters.
  •    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, customer service, and communication skills.
  •    Good written and spoken English.
