Buhler Inc. seeks a full-time Project Engineer Automation based in Plymouth, MN. The primary duty of the Project Engineer Automation is to deliver high-quality engineering services by developing software application systems for customers in the food industry, such as grain milling, animal feed, and consumer foods. The engineer ensures alignment with customer expectations, compliance with Buhler's related directives and EHS standards and timely completion. Specific duties include: 1) Support and advise Mechanical Project Engineers on low/medium complexity projects on all technical aspects related to Automation Engineering, ensuring the design meets customer expectations. 2) Develop flowcharts and other engineering documents to identify requirements for software and propose viable solutions. 3) Design and develop computer software systems for customers in the food industry through the application of knowledge in computer science, automation engineering, and mathematical analysis during the development process. 4) Manage the technical scope of assigned work to achieve the project goals and objectives. 5) Participate in Project Reviews and project meetings as required. 6) Participate in project meetings with cross-functional team members, suppliers, and customers. 7) Support the Project Manager to ensure a proper project execution according to the Project Management process. 8) Resolve questions or problems that may occur during the design and manufacturing, as well as during installation, commissioning, start-up, and operation, including Customer Services cases. 9) Capture and apply all learned lessons to increase execution performance and quality. 10) Develop application solutions using the following technologies: WinCos Scada R1, WinCos Scada R2, Mercury Scada, Pluto Scada, VisiWin .NET Machine Control, VisiWin V7 Machine Control, GCPro, IOSimuli V2, WinTrend V2, Device2L MEAG configuration, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Schneider Electric Unity Pro, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C#, JavaScript. The position requires international and domestic travel 30-50% of the time.
These are the skills you'll need
This position requires an Associate's Degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Control and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field and three (3) years of experience in controls and automation engineering, including programming. Experience must include three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent, in all of the following: 1) Designing and developing computer software systems for customers in the food industry through the application of knowledge in computer science, automation engineering, and mathematical analysis during the development process. 2) Resolving questions or problems that may occur during the design and manufacturing, as well as during installation, commissioning, start-up, and operation, including Customer Services cases. 3) Capturing and applying all learned lessons to increase execution performance and quality. 4) Developing application solutions using the following technologies: WinCos Scada R1, WinCos Scada R2, Mercury Scada, Pluto Scada, VisiWin .NET Machine Control, VisiWin V7 Machine Control, GCPro, IOSimuli V2, WinTrend V2, Device2L MEAG configuration, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Schneider Electric Unity Pro, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C#, JavaScript. 5) Supporting and advising Project Engineers on low/medium complexity projects on all technical aspects related to Automation Engineering, ensuring the design meets customer expectations. Experience must have been acquired after completion of the Associate's Degree or equivalent. All experience may have been gained concurrently. Position requires international and domestic travel 30-50% of the time. Salary: $85, 000 to $110, 000/year.
