R&D Engineer (m/f/d) Ion Beam Sputtering
As an R&D Engineer (m/f/d) Ion Beam Sputtering, you will contribute to the further development of our LEYBOLD OPTICS IBS ion beam sputtering platforms. In this role, you will develop advanced thin-film coating processes and support the realization of innovative vacuum coating systems for demanding optical applications. - You develop and optimize ion beam sputtering processes for the deposition of optical thin-film systems
- You are actively involved in the development, testing, and qualification of new components, process solutions, and system features
- You coordinate and execute R&D projects in close collaboration with internal departments and external partners
- You write development and application reports as well as scientific publications
- You attend international conferences and technical events to follow the latest developments, present results, and build professional networks
- You commission novel vacuum coating systems
- You support our sales team and customers with technical expertise
- You have successfully completed a university degree e.g., in Physics, Applied Physics, Material Science, Physical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field
- Experience in process development, experimental work, data evaluation, or system commissioning
- Ideally, you have experience with ion beam sputtering systems, vacuum coating technology, optical thin films, or optical interference filters
- You have a good command of English, German skills are of advantage
- You have a structured, reliable, and solution-oriented way of working
- You are willing to travel internationally to visit customers, support system commissioning, and attend conferences
