Sales Account Manager
Build lasting customer partnerships and drive business growth in a dynamic, customer-focused role. As a Sales Account Manager, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them identify solutions that support their goals while expanding opportunities for both new projects and aftermarket products and services. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll combine relationship management, technical knowledge, and commercial expertise to deliver exceptional customer experiences and impactful business results.
• Develop new accounts and identify new clients who may benefit from company products, services, aftermarket solutions, or project-based offerings.
• Execute sales strategies that support both new project sales and service sales growth.
• Initiate and maintain customer contact to understand requirements, identify opportunities, and recommend solutions that best meet customer needs related to quality, price, delivery, and long-term value.
• Negotiate contracts, tender terms, and conditions to meet both customer and company needs.
• Prepare, calculate, and administer customer quotations, proposals, and account documentation.
• Provide pre-sales technical assistance, product education, and customer training as needed.
• Support after-sales services by providing technical backup, coordinating solutions, and assisting with customer order concerns or service-related needs.
• Work with engineering, quoting, accounting, design, development, production, purchasing, quality, research, sales, and other technical experts to support customer requirements and sales opportunities.
• Collect and analyze market data, customer information, competitor activity, sales performance, and cost information to support business planning and strategy.
• Maintain customer records, CRM database information, SOM reports, trip reports, expense reports, and other sales-related documentation.
• Contribute to sales budget planning, SWOT analysis, and broader business sales strategy.
• Meet regular sales targets and coordinate sales projects across assigned accounts, territories, and customer opportunities.
• Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, industry associations, and other customer-facing events.
• Make technical presentations and demonstrate how products, services, aftermarket offerings, or project solutions meet customer needs.
• Maintain and continuously update product, technical, and industry knowledge.
• Participate in sales training, sales seminars, and product training activities.
• Provide training and support materials for other members of the sales team as needed.
• Manage miscellaneous projects and complete other duties as assigned.
• 5+ years experience in capital equipment sales, technical sales, industrial sales, aftermarket sales, or related customer-facing sales roles is preferred.
• Microsoft Office is required.
• Experience with enterprise software such as SAP is preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Project Wise, and D3 is nice to have.
• Strong customer relationship, sales, and negotiation skills.
• Technical knowledge of products, services, equipment, and customer applications.
• Ability to provide technical advice, product education, pre-sales assistance, and after-sales support.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical technical drawings.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, internal teams, and a variety of personalities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make effective decisions within company guidelines.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, problem solve, and support resolution of customer, account, and business issues.
• Ability to analyze costs, sales, customer needs, market trends, and competitive activity.
• Proactive team player with an ownership approach.
• Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality related to organizational and employee information.
• Speaks and understands English.
• Ability to travel up to 80% domestically and internationally, including frequent travel and non-traditional work schedules.
