Define system requirements and develop complete system solution on time, within budget, and in line with Bühler's quality, design, and EHS standards. The aim is to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and risk mitigation. A System Engineer further details the functional requirements set by the process engineer and serves as the contact for other Bühler engineering disciplines and elaborate base for automation. The systems engineer “build the bridge” between the functional (Process, HW engineering) and the physical design (3D design and Installation Engineering).

- Help prepare project deliverables and estimate the needed engineering hours for the needed activities.
- Ensure that all interfaces with other engineering disciplines are coordinated in line with the assigned work package and establish effective interdisciplinary communication.
- Set up Site Structure with the plant, Line, Area and Function Groups. Define the necessary request objects on unit and sub-unit level.
- Defining Real Devices for all the objects within the Site structure incl. Location Structure, Customer Description and link to PCE Requests.
- Responsible for the definition and quality of all necessary attributes and data for the hand over to the automation department of small to medium plants. (E.g. Emergency System specification, safety relevant indication, pre-wiring information, interlocks)
- Ensure compliance with process requirements and maintain sizing calculations and functional requirements for specifying third-party equipment and piping.
- Visualize the data with different level of degree on PFD and PIDs according Bühler standards.
- Ensure that the arrangement and the piping routing correspond to the process requirements.
- Resolve questions or problems that occur during the design and manufacturing as well as during installation and commissioning and prepare as-built documentation.
