Summary

Sputtering Components Inc, a member of Buhler Group, is a growing business in Owatonna, Minnesota that has served customers all around the world for over 20 years. We are currently hiring for a highly motivated Buyer.

 

Every day, millions of people around the world come into contact with products made using SCI equipment. Our thin film technologies are used in vacuum coating systems to make windows, smartphones, display screens, solar panels, automobile components, decorative hardware and more.

 

As a Buyer, you will play a critical role in our supply chain operations. You'll be responsible for placing purchase orders for parts, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining an optimal inventory. Your strong research skills and ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers will allow you to procure high-quality goods at the best total cost of ownership. You will directly contribute to our organization's efficiency by evaluating suppliers and managing inventory levels. This role reports to the Materials Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Search for and negotiate contracts with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Craft purchase order and inventory reports using the purchasing queue, place purchase orders based on due dates.
  • Solve supply chain problems.
  • Work within the operations team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders.
  • Effectively and accurate monitor purchase orders
  • Work closely with Materials Manager to ensure accuracy of vendor information.
  • Identify and evaluate purchase price variances, comparing purchase price versus standard cost.
  • Provide backup to peers in Operations.
  • Provide guidance of the MRP system to less experienced users.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years Purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Detailed oriented and accurate with data entry.
  • Experience with Made 2 Manage or other ERP Systems.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexible, willingness to be able to adapt to change.
  • Strong Multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder.
  • ISM/APICS certification preferred.
