Summary

Sputtering Components Inc, a member of Buhler Group, is a growing business in Owatonna, Minnesota that has served customers all around the world for over 20 years. We are currently hiring for a highly motivated Quality Engineer Intern for the the 2025 summer.

 

Every day, millions of people around the world come into contact with products made using SCI equipment. Our thin film technologies are used in vacuum coating systems to make windows, smartphones, display screens, solar panels, automobile components, decorative hardware and more.

 

We invite a dynamic, creative, and technically inclined intern to participate in a 3-month Quality Management internship. The primary focus will be on improving assembly manuals for various products with the inclusion of illustrative images and instructional videos. The intern will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing an existing SharePoint portal tailored for touchscreen access, as well as providing support in receiving inspections. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Upgrade assembly manuals with clear, high-quality images and step-by-step videos to enhance user comprehension and assembly accuracy. 

  • Maintain and improve the current SharePoint platform, ensuring easy accessibility and functionality via touchscreen interfaces. 

  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure manuals are accurate, user-friendly, and up to the company's standards. 

  • Support the Quality Control team with incoming inspection tasks to verify the quality of received materials and components. 

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process enhancement discussions. 

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a relevant Bachelor Degree in areas such as Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 

  • Previous experience doing quality assurance in a manufacturing environment is ideal 

  • Ability to work independently and execute sound judgment  

  • Team player willing to work as part of a team  

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills  

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
